Snow Snow go away!

Well it's been a little while since I've been able to get a blog out, but with all this snow, I've been trapped inside for a few days, so time for some fun photos!!! Here is a view out the shop window in Bellevue on Tuesday right as the snow started.

Here is my apartment balcony on Wednesday night after the first big dump of snow! My poor flamingos are so confused! By the end of Thursday night I had over 6 inches total! Wow!

We've been very busy over the past few weeks, we made it through Christmas & New Years, and were welcomed very abruptly into 2012 with the Seattle Wedding Show! Our fabulous bakers made us about 2,200 mini cupcakes to pass away to all the 'bride-to-be's' and their friends and families! It was a lot of fun, and we got to meet a lot of fun brides while we were there! We went with a black, white, and red theme with pops of light green here and there!

All of our flowers were provided by Toppers English Floral Design. We did two of their Zensational arrangements with some extra green cymbidium orchids to accent and give some beautiful pops of color, along with some exceptionally beautiful deep red spray roses on our feature tier of cupcakes!

The main tier was all chocolate cupcakes with bright white buttercream, topped with a healthy dose of edible glitter and sprinkled with edible diamonds, then topped with one of the gorgeous spray roses. The cake on top was a matching buttercream cake with roses as the cake topper!

We also brought some Bella Cupcake Couture wrappers in my very favorite of their new wrappers in 'Audrey', a classy black and white stripe perfect for a beautiful pop of colorful buttercream! Perfect to go with our candy table isn't it?

Here is a photo of our tier that held all of our sample cupcakes, this held about 300 minis at one time, but we went through over 1,200 just in the first day! WOW! Cupcake challenge: Can you name all 15 flavors on that tier?? (Click on the picture to enlarge if you need!)

Are you a bride to be and don't know what steps you should take to get started? Well I'll help you out! We offer complimentary wedding tastings (Bellevue only) and an appointment is required, so here is what you need to know to set up a cupcake tasting:

1.) First when you have a free minute, go to our website at www.newyorkcupcakes.com and take a look at all of our yummy flavors. Then jot down up to 10 different flavors that you would like to try.

2.) Give us a call at the shop at (425) 283-5445 to place an appointment for a complimentary wedding tasting. You can have up to 10 flavors to try, and three people (more flavors or additional people will be an additional fee paid after the wedding tasting). When placing your tasting, there are some flavors that we cannot do on certain days as it is hard to make a batch of batter for 1 or 2 cupcakes, but we are more than happy to hold one aside for you on the day that we have it, and you can pick it up free of charge on the day that we have them in the shop!

3.) When you come in for your wedding tasting, here are some things to think about before coming in:

*Do you have a theme or color you are hoping for?

*Do you have a cake idea that you want for your cutting cake?

*How many people will be at your wedding?

*Will you want to rent a tier, or need set up/delivery?

I always suggest when you come in, if you have any ideas or inspirations, bring pictures and/or swatches in! We love to help get you to your ideal dream wedding set up!

Shortly after the Seattle Wedding Show we had a huge order for Microsoft just down the street, and they ordered 2,000 cupcakes for their Private Cloud Event! Wow! That's a whole lot of cake! We baked all 2,000 cupcakes in one day, which took us 6 hours to bake, then we boxed them, and then about 3 hours were spent frosting them! It took almost 120 lbs. of buttercream to frost 2,000 cupcakes! WOW! Isn't that crazy!? We did all blue and white buttercream, with blue and white chocolate curls, along with blue and white sprinkles to keep with a cloud like look! Then we topped them all with edible glitter of course!

Here is a picture of the first box dropped! One box out of about 80 boxes isn't too bad huh? Luckily these yummy red velvets didn't go to waste, we gave them away in the store that day to treat the customers who came in! They might not be as cute, but they still taste delicious! (Just glad it wasn't me who dropped it!)

Here is the hallway lined with about 60 boxes of cupcakes! That's about 1,440 cupcakes!

We then delivered and set up the cupcakes in 4 different buildings! Here are some of the set ups!

Each tier held about 170-200 cupcakes, so they had a lot to refill for everyone! In total I would say (minus the pre-planning and ordering of product) time spent in the kitchen and delivering and setting up the 2,000 cupcakes took us about 14 hours from start to finish! Not too bad huh?

Here is also some fun photos from an order I did the other day, I had so much fun with this! I love Angry Birds!

A VERY Grand Opening!

Madison is OPEN!

Today is our first day of opening down at our new Seattle location! It's so exciting! The store finally looks like it belongs to us!!!

Last night was a crazy night trying to get some of the little things set up, and our contractors George (we like to call him Georgie Porgie) and Reggie were helping us hang our aprons across our 'clothes line'.

It was kind of fun watching these two manly men hanging the aprons in just the right way! We couldn't have opened this place up with out them!!! Thanks guys!

And right when we opened our doors, two of our favorite customers Pam & and her daughter visiting from San Diego, came in and bought the first cupcakes out of the shop!

We just love these ladies! We even put up our very first dollar we made from them!!! Thanks ladies! You are the best!

So I've got to run, still a lot of things to do in this new little shop! So come on by and treat yourself to something sweet!

A little something arrived today!

Let there be LIGHT!

Well I'm down at the new shop today, and we got our cute chandeliers up! Well, we didn't do it, our super cute electricians did it! But YAY!

Aren't these beautiful?? Don't look at the yellow wall, don't worry, they will be PINK! :)

We also passed out about 7 dozen cupcakes to everyone walking around by the store! We will be here again tomorrow from about 1-5 so stop on by if you are around and see if we have any cupcakes to give away!!!

Tuesday Blues-day?

Where is the sun? I don't think Mother Nature got the memo that Summer has started! WHERE IS THE SUN????

Well we have been very busy lately with beautiful summer weddings and we are getting ready to start construction in the new shop! We have been going back and forth between the new Madison shop and the Bellevue shop quite frequently lately, and its slowly starting to take a New York Cupcake shape!

We haven't changed out all the signage yet, but we are teasing everyone with this guy for a bit! Also, if you are in the area stop by and say 'Hi' if you are there! We are trying to pass out samples of cupcakes every time we are down there, so stop on by if you are in the area!

The past few weeks we have also been doing a LOT of summer weddings! I think this Saturday alone we have seven set ups! Oooh! That is a lot of cupcakes! So check back next week for a lot of cupcake pictures!

Recently we did an event for the opening of 'Horrible Bosses' and we brought about 200 mini cupcakes! We brought are sweet photographer Amanda Waltman from Art of Subtlety Photography! It was kind of funny to see a movie about horrible bosses, with my not so horrible boss! If you haven't seen the movie already you should check it out! We were all dying laughing through the entire movie!

Also, at the new store we made two new friends! The first is a cute little grey kitty cat who we named Cupcake! We aren't sure if he has a home, but he sure was a friendly little bugger! We left the back door open while we were cleaning the store, and he sat at the door and hung out for a few hours! Such a happy little fellow! So if you stop by and see him, make sure to say hi to Cupcake too!

Our Second new friend is a little man named Evan! He is the coolest dude around! He tried our cupcakes and told us that we were 895% good! What an awesome compliment! We're hoping to see more of this little guy around, cause he is a funny little man! We love him!

Well I'm off to go decorate lots of cute cupcakes!

The cupcake is out of the wrapper!

GUESS WHAT?

WE ARE OPENING A SECOND STORE IN SEATTLE!

How exciting is that? We will be moving to East Madison Street in Seattle and taking over the spot for Bella Dolce Bakery!

We are very VERY excited about this big change, and can't wait to get in there and give it a touch of New York Cupcakes Style! I'm going to be keeping the blog updated over the next few weeks to bring you a 'Before & After' update, and keep you posted about our adventures of opening our second location!

Today we are going in to get the keys, and then we can start moving in! So keep checking back for lots of fun posts and details about the move!

Shower of stars

We've been keeping super busy in this cute little pink shop the past few weeks! We've had some special visitors, a bunch of weddings, and fun events!

One special visitor we had is one of our very favorite little tater tots, and her name is Amelia!

The first time I met this little cutie, she had on a jacket that made her look like a panda, and since then, she's become one of my very favorite little girls! She came in with her mom Julie, and we had so much fun with cupcakes! She first ate her cupcake, then I gave her one to decorate, and instead of decorating it, she just ate all the candies to go on top! It was so funny!

We let her lose, and she played with anything she could get her tiny little hands on, my favorite was the rolling pin, of all things she rolled, she rolled out the glass front door!

We also dressed her up with party hats, and I'm pretty sure at that point she wanted to use the rolling pin to crush my camera!

We also did a wedding for one of our favorite cupcakers recently as well! Her wedding was themed with a black, white, and bright pink theme. She had mini cupcakes wrapped in the Bella Cupcake Couture wrappers, and we made her cake to match!

It was so beautiful! She even had a candy bar with all the candies in the same colors, which just added an extra pop to the whole dessert theme!

Last weekend we did a big event for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, their event for Seattle Shower of Stars.

St. Jude is one of the most amazing places, and we love to donate our time and cupcakes to anything we can for them! This event was an auction to raise money, and everything at the event was donated to an amazing cause.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is located in Memphis, Tennessee. Their focus there is to cure cancer, and other catastrophic diseases in children through research and treatment. About 5,700 active patients each year. The most amazing part about St. Jude's is that they do not charge the families or patients a single dollar. Everything from treatment to travel expenses are taken care of for the families. Even the housing, groceries, and everything down to the soda machines in the halls are taken care of by the hospital.

At the event, we listened to speakers who worked for St. Jude, and even got to listen to a mother of a patient, and the 12 year old patient herself, and everything I heard was so touching.

There were all sorts of goodies being auctioned off. We donated cupcake center pieces for each table, and also a basket of goodies to be auctioned off in the silent auction!

There was everything there from vacations, to signed sports jerseys, to The Humane Society gift certificates, to Lancome face creams being donated for auction!

One fun thing was they had bottles of wine in bags that you couldn't see... If you purchased one for a $20 donation you could get a bottle of wine valued anywhere from $20-$300!

Another fun thing was the Tree of Life, which you could donate a set amount to pay for specific things at St. Jude's. One was donating $75 to buy a wagon for a kid. Instead of being pushed around in a wheel chair, the kids can get a red wagon to be pulled around the hospital in! I'd say that's more fun huh? Wish I could have been pulled around in a red wagon when I broke my back!

The event itself was amazing, and I learned so much about the hospital and facilities, and met some really amazing people. We do fund raising here in the store for St. Jude every Fall, and we would love for you all to come in and donate when the time comes. We left with a few goodies, and full bellies from the delicious dinner provided by our friends at The Ravishing Radish.

Have I ever mentioned my love for their Yukon gold mashed potatoes? Every even we do with them I'm always crossing my fingers that mashed potatoes will show up on the menu! And lucky me, the mashed potatoes were served at the event! YUM!

Cupcake Camp Success!!!

This past Sunday we participated in the second annual Cupcake Camp Seattle, and we had so much fun! The event is put on by our sweet friend Carrie, owner of Bella Cupcake Couture, and all proceeds from the event went to Hope Heart Institute.

The event was held at The Canal in Ballard, and what a perfect day for it! The sun was out, and we even got to sit out on the patio for a bit while we absorbed some rays of sunshine!

Heart disease is the NUMBER ONE cause of death in America, and the people at Hope Heart are working towards making revolutionary medical advances towards treating, beating, and preventing heart disease. They are located in Bellevue, just like us! We were so happy to be a part of this event! Cupcakes AND supporting a good cause?!? Count us in!

Before the event even started we were also on the news on King 5 for a spot about Cupcake Camp! Here is a link to their site with a spot including the people from Hope Heart. They also had us talking about our new cupcake the 'Papa B's Maple Bacon' cupcake named after my dad!

Cupcake Camp opened its doors at 12pm on Sunday, and a rush of people came through the doors! It was crazy! Lisa and I were both there, and Bella Cupcake Couture was nice enough to have 3 of their sweet interns helping us, and we still didn't have enough hands to help everyone! There were four lines of people coming up to our table, and it was fantastic! Over 800 people made it out to the event!

Here are some photos of our awesome cupcake table! We have so much fun setting these tables up, and this was one of my favorites!!

Jessie, the wonderful artist also known as Cakespy was there at the event, and we made a cake with artwork inspired by her art from the Cupcake Camp Poster! I was so happy that she liked the cake I made for her!!! Here is Jessie with the cake!

We brought hundreds of cupcakes with us to the event, but the show stoppers were our TWO AWARD WINNERS! In the 'Most Unique Ingredient' competition we entered our 'Thai One On' a Mango Sticky Rice cupcake! We got 1st place for it, and the judges were crazy about this cupcake!

We also placed 1st in the 'Best Seattle Themed Cupcake' with our awesome 'A Sweet View' a cupcake mountain with evergreen trees, a flying eagle, a bear, squirrel, and even fish swimming in a stream! How fun! We had the largest cupcake display on the table, and it looked like we had taken over!

We had so many flavors with us on Sunday, and the ones that went the quickest were the S'mores (which we ran out of in about 15 minutes!) the mini banana splits, and the mini cookie dough cupcakes! We don't normally do those two flavors in minis, but seeing as how they are our favorites here, we had to try it out!

Well back to cupcake land to go make some fun Easter cupcakes! We are crazy busy for Easter which always makes the holidays so much fun! Its almost like being a kid in school and doing arts & crafts for holidays! LOVE IT!

Two for Tuesday!

Did you know that Tuesdays around the cupcake shop are a special day? Tuesdays are now being called 'Twos Days!!' We will have Two-Punch Twos-days (if you purchase a 6 pack you receive 2 punches on your 6 pack punch card) You can also take $2.00 off a dozen minis and/or a dozen regular sized cupcakes, and on top of that all regular cupcakes between 5:30 & 7:00 pm will be just $2.00 (while supplies last of course), and all you have to do is mention the deals and they are yours! Twos-days might just get out of control around here!

If you spell the word "two" enough you'll start to question it's spelling... I keep looking at it like it's a foreign word now!

Today I worked from home, and I spent my time giving our outside furniture a face lift! It's almost spring, and I'm hoping that being proactive in the outside furniture department will force the sun to come out and warm us all up! I took it from boring beige to New York Cupcake pink! What a change! I even spray painted my feet in the process... Whoops! You'll have to come by and check out my handiwork!

Otherwise in the store we are keeping busy with a lot of special orders, and getting ready for Cupcake Camp Seattle! I'm so excited about Cupcake Camp I can barely contain myself. I'm always excited to compete in a competition, and this year I think I'm really going to out do myself! Best Seattle Themed cupcake, easy peasy! Hardest part for me is limiting myself to a cupcake! My only question for the judges, "Is there a height limit?" Go figure!

They also just announced that India Tree, a local Seattle based Sprinkle maker is going to be sponsoring the event as well! We love their sprinkles and fun products in the cupcake shop! Check them out HERE!

We're really going to have a fun variety of flavors and cupcakes at Cupcake Camp this year, you'll have to stop by and give them all a try! Don't forget tickets are going fast, and you'll be able to save a few bucks (and a line at the door) by getting your tickets early! Cupcake Camp Seattle!

It's that time again! Time for Cupcake Camp Seattle on April 17, 2011 12pm-4pm with our dear friends at Bella Cupcake Couture!!!

We are busy little bees getting ready for this cupcake filled event. Last year hundreds of cupcake lovers showed up for cupcake treats from all over the Pacific Northwest. The event benefits Hope Heart Institute.

This year we took a step up and decided to be a Champagne Sponsor at the 2011 Cupcake Camp, and we will be featured along side Wink Cupcakes for this years event.

Last week we went to go check out the venue for the event, and it is going to be held at The Canal in Ballard (located at 5300 34th Avenue NW) I can't wait to see what it looks like filled up with cupcakes.

Here is what last year's set up looked like! We are totally going to out do ourselves this year!

Last year we competed in two of the three competitions, and placed 1st in the 'Most Unique Ingredients' for our Little Miss Tipsy, the Lemoncello & Raspberry Vodka cupcake delight!

We also placed 2nd for the 'Seattle Themed Cupcake' with Oscar the Orca!

This year we will be competing in all three of the categories; 'Healthiest Cupcake', 'Most Unique Ingredients', and 'Seattle Themed Cupcake'. Can't wait to reveal what we've got up our sleeves this year.

Wedding season is also getting a good start! Here is a wedding we did for one of my favorite red heads. (I'm a little jealous of her hair color) Their wedding was a black, white, and red theme, my favorite colors! They even made their toppers of themselves, and did a great job!

Here is another wedding we did on the Skansonia in Seattle. They topped their tier with a Barbie and Ken doll. It was a beautiful day in Seattle, with a killer view for a March day!

Are you wearing GREEN?

Happy St. Patrick's day to all my cupcake loving friends! How is everyone celebrating their day of all things Green?? Over here at the cupcake shop we are celebrating with Guinness Stout Cupcakes, Irish Mocha Madness (Baily's Irish Cream anyone?!) and GREEN Velvet! Woo! Hope I find a pot of gold when I get home tonight!

Starting this Saturday in the store we are going to be collecting donations to go to the Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support to help out the animals who have been effected due to the earthquakes and tsunami's in Japan. We feel it is important to help support these little critters who can't help themselves, and we would love for families to be reunited with their furry family members! Almost all of us have pets here at NYCC, and I know I'd be sad if my two kitties were harmed or separated from me in a catastrophic event like this!

Here are a few of Lisa's little babies, Annabelle (cat), and Lolo (back), and Daisy (middle). She also has Lucy, Emmet, and Oliver at home too!

We will be collecting donations from Saturday March 19th- Saturday March 9th in our store. If you donate $1.00 or more we will treat you to a free mini cupcake at the time of donation! Lisa (owner of NYCC) will also be matching all donations up to 50%. We will be making the final donation on April 11th so make sure you stop in to donate and get your free mini cupcake!

I have to get back into the kitchen to bake some more yummy treats, but I thought I'd post some pictures up of some fun treats I've made this past week!

Here is a 13th Birthday party cake and cupcakes made with owls! What a hoot!

We also got to make some cupcake hamburgers for a sweet girl asking her boy to a Tolo dance!

We've been busy in the cupcake shop lately so I haven't had time to post anything! Eek! So I wanted to make sure and share some of these adorable little St. Patty's Day cupcakes and Easter cupcakes!

Well the sun stayed out today, but its still freezing outside! So we are staying warm in the cupcake shop today with a lot of yummy treats! I thought I'd just post a picture of some cute little cupcakes for a three year old's birthday today! A pink and orange themed birthday! So cute!

A few fun extras!

So much going on in the cupcake store! The other day we had our dear friend Betsy from JavaCupcake for a mini Birthday party in the shop! We were also joined by our friend Carrie from Bella Cupcake Couture for Betsy's Birthday as well! So sweet that she chose us out of all the other cupcake shops to have her birthday celebration! We treated her to her favorite cupcake - the Park Avenue Peanut Butter, with a candle on top! So much fun! We had lots of girl talk and had a great time! Betsy took lots of fun photos for her blog! Go check it out click HERE. She is moving to Germany soon, and we will definitely miss her!

Here is a photo from a wedding we did at Lord Hill Farms after our event with them a few weeks ago! We came in and set up, and they had the venue set up in such a cute way! Twinkle lights everywhere, and each guests table had a different photo of the bride and groom! So cute!

We also just wrapped up our busiest day this year so far which was Valentines Day!!! It was absolutely crazy in here! We had a line out the door all day long! If you stopped in to get some sweet treats for your sweetie, you know what I'm talking about! We had some fun Valentines cupcakes, and I'm sure these little treats made everyone very happy on the day o' love!

I thought everyone should also see this adorable little pup Daisy, who is Lisa's (owner of NYCC) little dachsie wearing her cute little cupcake bows! She can be our cute little cupcake mascot! If you have any fun pictures of your pets in cupcake gear you should post it on our facebook page! We love little critters here, and would love to see your pets all dressed up in CUPCAKES!!

The day before Valentines Day, we donated some cupcakes and a cake to an auction, and the cake had a Valentines theme to it! I decided to go with a candy heart theme, and it turned out pretty darn cute!

We also had a fun cake for a 10 year old's Birthday Party! They were going with a fun Hollywood themed cake! I went with a red carpet Oscar theme for the cake! So cute! I had so much fun making it!

Well I've gotten a few blogs out today and I hope I got everything covered! Next week I will be picking a blogger of the week (on Monday) so leave lots of love here on the blog!!! I love to hear what you guys have to say!! Also, we are having a big vote on Facebook for the flavor of the month for March! Wine and Dine!

Last night we made our way out to Woodinville to go to a wedding event at De Lille Cellars! There was some amazing food and wine, and about 250 guests who were very excited about cupcakes!!! It was kind of fun because it was right down the street from the house I was raised in as a kid, so I was in my home town for the night! We brought with us about 300 cupcakes, and the favorite of the night was a tie between the Long Island Lemon and the Candy Store Salted Caramel!

We saw a few of our friends from the Seattle Wedding Show like Pink Blossom Events and Twelve Baskets! We were right next to Pink Blossom Events at the Wedding Show, so it was fun to see them again! And it was also fun to see Andrea from Twelve Baskets, she was a huge help in the evening trying to get us a great spot inside De Lille Cellars!

We finished the night by tasting all of their amazing food! We had everything from crab cakes, to cheese tortellini (my favorite), to smoked beef, spinach salad, and lots of other tasty treats! There was so much food we almost didn't know what to do with ourselves! They had a white wine that was absolutely delicious as well, I believe it was a Sauvignon Blanc mix. I highly recommend it!

Well I'm off to do more blogging! Trying to play catch up, and there is so much to talk about! Hope everyone is enjoying this weird weather we are having to day!!! Don't forget there is one more blog on the way!

I'm a bad blogger!

Holy Moly! It's been a busy past few weeks and I haven't had any time to blog! I feel so bad! I'm back full time now, and I think the few months I was gone recovering from my broken back, my 'To-Do' list got a little out of control!!! You know how it goes right? So much to do and so little time!

So I'm going to load you up with a TON of fun photos from events that we've done lately! So I'll start first with Lord Hill Farms and Girl Power Hour! We had two events on one day, so we split our selves up and went both directions! First we went to Lord Hill Farms and took a beautiful display of cupcakes out to Snohomish!

All of the other vendors were fantastic to work with, and they had a delicious Macaroni and Cheese! We are all suckers here at NYCC for some good Mac & Cheese! Lord Hill Farms is a beautiful venue with a gorgeous view of a valley and trees out the top window where a wedding ceremony would be held. On our drive out we saw a beautiful Bald Eagle and an alpaca farm! How fun! We wanted to feed an alpaca a cupcake, but I'm sure their owners wouldn't be very happy with us! :)

That very same night we had a Girl Power Hour event out in Pnk Ultra Lounge in Seattle. We put our cute dresses on, and made our way downtown! It was a really amazing turn out! We ran out of cupcakes before the night was even over!

Pnk Ultra Lounge was such a great place to have a Girl Power Hour event, it was completely lit in all pink and beautiful! Such a great lounge to have a few drinks and have some girl time! They were featuring Bacardi's new Cherry Vodka, the drinks they made with them tasted like Skittles! It was fabulous!

The next week we had a wedding event at The Sanctuary in West Seattle! It was a cute little venue, with a fun balcony that reminded me of an old theater! We saw some of our friends there like Act 3 Catering, and Ravishing Radish!

One of the vendors there had these cute little citrus martinis! They were adorable! These little glasses were only about 3 inches tall! The favorite cupcake of the night was the I <3 PB&J! I think people were nervous about it at first, but once someone sampled one, word spread like wild fire, and everyone kept coming back saying, "...so I heard about this Peanut Butter and Jelly cupcake...." needless to say they were gone before we knew what happened!

I'm going to keep blogging today so don't stop reading yet!!!

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

I couldn't think of a title for this blog today, so that's the first thing that came to mind! :) I think I need some sunshine soon before my brain starts to mold in all this rain! Ick! I can barely think! I'm ready for Spring!

Well today we had a lovely lunch with our new friend Andrew of the Mayflower Park Hotel, to be one of the preferred cake vendors for their events, weddings, banquets, and more! How exciting is that? We had a tasty lunch at Andaluca, where my big brother Doug cooks! Here is Doug looking all professional in his chef's gear! We brought Doug and all his friends in the kitchen a dozen yummy cupcakes and they were gone in minutes! Love it!

He even made our lunch for us! Delicious! He sent us home with a tasty chocolate lava cake! Can't wait to dig in! I have to put it in the oven to get it all melty for a mid afternoon snack! Yum! Thanks Doug, I love ya!

And coming up on Thursday this week we have TWO events! All these events lately are keeping us busy busy!

We will be attending the Girl Power Hour from 6-9pm on Thursday night at PNK Ultra Lounge! Its going to be a fantastic pink sparkly girlie girl night! You can get tickets online if you click right HERE. Members get $5 off! We will be joined by Bacardi and Amanda Howse Photography!

We will also be going to the Lord Hill Farms Wedding Event on Thursday as well! It will be an event for Brides to come and see different vendors and get to come and sample our yummy cupcakes!

Seattle Wedding Show 2011

This past weekend we participated in the Seattle Wedding Show! It was crazy busy and lots of fun! We had thousands of brides and their friends and families passing by and trying our cupcakes! It was a great turn out! We went through over 2500 cupcakes in two days. It was pretty awesome!

This year we went with a bigger booth size and it was beautiful! Lisa and I had been planning our booth for about 2-3 months (I've had plenty of time at home recovering from a broken back to do all the icky paperwork involved!) and it was so worth all the hard work! We had a lot of positive feedback from everyone, and we want to thank everyone who stopped by to say hello! Alright I'll stop jabbering and get on to the photos!

Don't forget we do complimentary wedding tastings in the store, so call if you want to set up an appointment!

Lee DeWyze Star 101.5 STAR stage!!

This morning we were some pretty lucky girls and got to go to STAR 101.5's Star Stage event & give cupcakes to American Idol winner Lee DeWyze! Such a cutie!

We gave him two Candy Store Salted Caramel, a Royal Red Velvet, a Long Island Lemon, a Vanilla Bean Dream, and a I <3 PB&J.

We got to KOMO news station this morning and provided cupcakes to 150 lucky winners of STAR 101.5's listeners!! We peeked around and got to see the control room where all the KOMO business goes down. Being the film school junkie that I am, I always get excited around that kind of stuff.

Zeek's Pizza was there with tons and tons of delicious pizza. Lisa and I can never turn down a good slice of pizza that's for sure! I had the cheese and BBQ chicken pizza, YUM!!!

We even got to stick around and see the show afterwords, and wow, this guy can sing!!! Such a handsome fellow, and as sweet as can be! It was super adorable at the very end of the show they were trying to cut him off, and he asked if he could play 'just one more song' as a Christmas present to all of us there, and he finished up the show with his cover of the song 'Hallelujah' and it was beautiful! Might be my favorite cover of the song!

Fans got to ask some questions, and one girl asked if she could take him out to dinner, to which he responded, "No, I should take YOU out to dinner!" with a smile. Another asked about his traveling, and he said that he had only been home for a total of 3 weeks this whole year! WOW! He even played a little guitar while answering questions for 'question music' as he called it!

Morning host's Kent & Allen started the show off for us, and even gave away some fun prizes! Then Lee and his piano player Lincoln came out and gave an awesome show!

After the show we got to have our picture taken with both Lee and Lincoln (the keyboard player), which I'll post up by this Thursday when it gets sent to us. Both of these guys were gentlemen and hugged us on our way out! Needless to say I was completely swooning! <3

Cupcakes Take the Cake Birthday Bash!

This past Tuesday we got to participate in the Cupcakes Take the Cake's 6th Birthday Party, and we had so much fun!!! We set up a beautiful cupcake display, and got to see a lot of our cupcake friends from around town! We got to mingle with Rocket Queen Cupcakes, The Radical Cupcake, Bella Bella Cupcakes, Cakespy, Jenny Cookies, Bella Cupcake Couture, Trophy Cupcakes, and our wonderful hostess of the evening Betsy from Javacake!

All sorts of fun cupcake fun happened down in Queen Anne at Chopstix Piano Bar!

They had dueling pianos, a cupcake decorating contest, TONS of wonderful door prizes, and more cupcakes than you would know what to do with!!!

We arrived early to set up our 170 cupcakes and birthday cake! I have to say sometimes I'm pretty darn impressed with ourselves! This is definitely going on the top of my list of favorite cupcake displays!!! I made them a special birthday cake just for the event! It turned out so cute when it was all set up! We had all sorts of flavors including, I <3 PB&J (a crowd favorite!), Candy Store Salted Caramel, Pure Bliss, Cheatin' with Chocolate, Radio City Raspberry, An Affair to Remember, Long Island Lemon, Royal Red Velvet, Sweet Cherry Kisses, and Soho Strawberry! So many to choose from!! We went with one solid theme of birthday and decorated them with sprinkles, sparkles, and birthday candles! So much fun!

After everyone filled their bellies with great food and cupcakes, there was a cupcake decorating contest! I competed against Donna of Bella Bella Cupcakes, and Marisa of The Radical Cupcake! We had 3 minutes to decorate 12 cupcakes provided by Trophy Cupcake, and use toppings to make them super adorable! Lucks provided all the sprinkles and toppings for the competition and they were so cute!

I won a whole bunch of Lucks Sugar toppings, a pack of Bella Cupcake Couture Wrappers, and a cute little certificate! I had a lot fun and made a lot of friends while doing this, and the other ladies did such a good job as well!

The dueling pianos were fun, and we even got the treat of one little cupcake fan singing us all a christmas song! It was the cutest thing ever! She was so precious!

It was a fabulous evening, and I'm sure everyone left on a sugar rush!

On a side note, we get requests ALL THE TIME for allergy free cupcakes, and I just want to make sure if you are looking for gluten free, vegan, dairy, etc-free cupcakes, PLEASE go check out our friends at The Radical Cupcake. She does all sorts of cute allergy free cupcakes!

Happy December!

It's almost time for Cupcakes Take the Cake's 6th Birthday Party!!! If you love cupcakes as much as we do don't forget to get your tickets! I've drawn up some cute plans for our big birthday cake on top of our beautiful cupcake tier, and its going to be so cute!!!

We've been busy in the store the past week getting ready for December and all the holiday fun that is coming our way (trust me, Christmas will be here before you know it!!) I rearranged everything to make room for all of our new holiday toppings, glitter, and sprinkles!!! I will also be doing some fun display cupcakes this weekend with a holiday theme, all for special order, so make sure you stop by to see them!!! I'll give you a hint... Rosy cheeks and 9 little helpers... hehe! Love the holiday season!!! We are also getting ready for the Seattle Wedding show in early January, which is going to be so much fun! This year we have a larger booth, and it will be so adorable!! Can't wait!!! I'll post more on that soon, so check back!

I'm still working my way back into work, and I've been seeing some really cute cupcakes walking out our doors! Here is one box that Kelly did for someone who used to be the doctor for the Oakland Raiders! They are so cute!!! I'm still a Seahawks fan, but I'm always on board for some football themed cupcakes!!

I'm BACK!

Hi everyone! I haven't been blogging lately because I've been gone for the past two months with a broken spine, and today is my first day back in action! I thought I'd start the day off with a blog, cause I love to keep everyone updated! Of course I had to have a cupcake first thing when I came in, so I'm trying the 'Southern Sweetie Potato Pie' which is DELICIOUS! If you could make the season of Fall into a cupcake, this little guy is IT! Love love love!

So this all happened when I decided to go skydiving with my dear friend Amanda, (who takes all of the photos for us here at New York Cupcakes)! Unfortunately I had a bad landing and broke my spine, but I'm healing up as well as could be expected, and I get to wear a very fancy back brace everyday. ;) Here's a picture of me up in the sky! And if your looking to skydive yourself, don't let my little mishap guide you, I still had the time of my LIFE! Hey look! It's me!

I've come into the store for the first time in a while today, and it is SO FESTIVE in here! There are pink sparklies everywhere, and holiday decorations all over the place! We are also selling a lot of our cute little ornaments, and some of our holiday items, so come in and check them out! We have a lot of fun things that would make excellent stocking stuffers! Here is a basket of cute little cupcakes that we are selling, how cute would they look on your tree? (hint hint) hehe!

Here is our little pink tree we have decorated, some of the ornaments are our own, and others are from our friends next door at Common Folk.

We are also now carrying our very own brand of loose leaf Tea! These teas are absolutely delicious! The flavors match up with our cupcake flavors, so it's a perfect compliment to our cupcakes! Right now we have 'Coney Island Coconut', 'Radio City Raspberry', 'Long Island Lemon', 'Little Miss Sunshine' (which smells so good!), 'Orange Dreamsicle', Soho Strawberry', and 'Pumpkin Patch'. These are fabulous, and make great gifts! We are also carrying cute little tea pots that are perfect for brewing just the perfect cup of tea!

Here is how the teas come! There are about 8-12 single servings per bag depending on how strong you like your tea!

Here is the darling little tea pot that we are selling with the teas! One bag of tea made in the tea pot is about 3-4 full teapots full (depending on your personal preference of how strong you like it!)

These make a great holiday gift for any tea lover! Another fun idea would be to give it as a gift with a gift card for cupcakes! How fun!

Another fun way to have cupcakes for the holidays is with the Meri Meri cupcake wrappers and decorations that we have in the shop! These are such a fun way to dress up these sweet little cakes! The Meri Meri kits run for $12.00 per box! (There is an additional fee for us baking and decorating them, call the store for details!) Here is a display we did where we baked the cupcakes in the wrappers, and decorated to match! Wouldn't this be the perfect thing for all of your holiday parties? Don't forget to special order these in advance if you want us to bake & decorate them!

We also have two new flavors for our Breakfast Cupcakes! One is the 'Orange U Sweet' and it is a mandarin orange cake with a cream cheese frosting, and a cute little orange slice on top! The other is the 'Strawberry Feilds Forever' which is a strawberry cake with a strawberry cream cheese frosting, topped wiht a sweet strawberry and finished with powderd sugar and sprinkles!

Some Exciting Events Coming Up!

October is one of our favorite months here at NYCC for many reasons. With Halloween just around the corner we're having so much fun decorating both the cupcakes and the store! Another reason we love October so much is because every October we partner up with St. Jude for the Pin Up a Pumpkin Promotion! St. Jude Children's Hospital holds a spot very dear to our hearts. While working for corporate Gymboree, the owner of New York Cupcakes had a chance to visit the hospital and was touched by the experience. St. Jude is a top notch medical facility for many reasons. Patients aren't charged a penny and have every thing paid for. The staff at St. Jude does everything in their power to ensure that the lifestyles of the patients and their family stays as normal as possible. Patients and their families are housed, have their meals provided, and are able to continue almost all the activities they participated in prior to the diagnosis. For the above mentioned and many, many more reasons, the work that is done at St. Jude is a lifeline for children around the world. Everything at the hospital is donation based, so we love contributing to such an overwhelmingly great cause.

In addition to Halloween and the St. Jude fundraiser, we have some exciting events during October. The first event we will be participating in is the Ruffles and Rust event at the Monroe Evergreen Fairgrounds on October 22nd. Home made crafts and antiques are among the many things being sold, and the best part is we will be handing out cupcakes in a variety of tasty flavors. This event comes at a great time to be thinking about holiday gifts.

Then coming up in November we have even more events. The first, on November 4th, is a Clutch Event, "Stylish In Seattle". This should be a fun one! Report shoes will be there showing off the upcoming trends in shoes. There will also be stylists and a mini treatment from Caruh Salon!

Finally, we're so excited to be a part of Cupcakes Take the Cake's 6th Birthday Bash in Seattle. Cupcakes Take the Cake is the #1 cupcake blog, and we love their site! Sorry to leave everyone hanging for a while there... We thought we'd have the chance to blog about last week's events once the excitement died down, but the fun spilled on over to this week too! Girl Power Hour 3 was even better than expected! We got to the venue about three hours early to begin setting up, hoping to have a little leeway time before the show, but as we learned, setting up 600 mini cupcakes, a 2 level cake, and 5 regular cupcakes is more work than what one would expect. Luckily we finished just in time and were able to enjoy the event! The tier looked amazing and we got to network with a lot of great people! The whole venue was fantastic. In the V.I.P. area they had professional stylists doing hair and makeup, massages, open bar, and delicious food from vendors all around the Seattle area. I think we each ate about a thousand of these Baby Buns mini cheeseburgers! There was also a fashion show and lots of other fun things. My personal favorite part was getting to introducing our cupcakes to new customers and hearing their encouraging feedback! Here are some pictures to show you what the event had to offer.

And now for this weeks exciting news... We are offering several new flavors! The first is a new spin on an old favorite! After many requests we've decided to alter the coconut cupcake by adding coconut into the cake! Yummmmy! And tomorrow we are introducing our seasonal flavors for October. The first is the Pumpkin Patch, which will be available in three different variations. You can choose between pumpkin cake baked on a golden graham cracker crust with our classic white buttercream, a moist white cake with the most delicious pumpkin pie buttercream, or for the real pumpkin lovers, the pumpkin cake with pumpkin buttercream. Finally, we have the Big Caramel Apple, the sweetest apple cake with creamy caramel frosting and a candied apple sweet treat on top. That's all for now, I can't write any more because those pumpkin cupcakes have put me in a food coma!

What a week!

Well it's been quite the exciting week here at New York Cupcakes! We're huge Seahawk fans here, so we're totally stoked to have received visits from a few of our favorite NFL players. They seem to love the red velvet cake and have even tweeted about us! Last night was Runway to Freedom, a charity fashion show to benefit New Beginnings. As someone who has never gone to a fashion show until last night, let me just tell you all that it was AMAZING. Lauren Grinnell and Shawn Michael, the organizers of the show, really out did themselves. Here are some behind the scenes pictures from the event.

The fashion show a ended up being a great success! Way to go Lauren, Shawn and team! We're also happy to report that we've already sold out of our Cancer Care for kids cupcake toppers and the week isn't even over yet! And finally tonight we have the Third Annual Girl Power Hour, an event created for the female business owners of Western Washington to network with one another. We're extremely excited for this event, as it will be our biggest mini display ever! We will have 500 mini cupcakes and a gorgeous two layer cake originally designed by Heather Betts and recreated by our newest baker/decorator, Luyda Lis. Tonight will also be the debut of a new flavor, Pink Champagne Wishes, which we created just for the event! If it's successful tonight it may be the seasonal flavor for January to ring in the New Year. Updates and pictures from Girl Power Hour 3 are soon to come, so check back soon. An Update from the Cupcake Shop!

It's been a busy couple of weeks here at NYCC... So much so that sometimes we joke about setting up roll away cots in the backroom because we're here so much! Lately we've been up to all sorts of fun things! Halloween (my favorite holiday) is coming up in a little over a month so we've been getting into the spirit by putting up cute decorations all over the store, and we just got all of our Halloween sugar toppers in! My favorite are the pumpkins and witches... Even the spiders (which I normally don't like) are cute!

In addition to preparing for Halloween we have just rolled out four new flavors! Among them are the the "Sweet Cherry Kisses," the sweetest cherry frosting on your choice of dark chocolate or vanilla cake with either a maraschino cherry or a Hershey's kiss on top, the "Ole Miss Mud Pie, a dark chocolate cake baked on top of an Oreo crust, filled with Ghiradelli soft caramel and topped with Oreo-mocha buttercream, a dollop of whipped buttercream, a mocha bean, and finished with a drizzle of Dilettante fudge. They don't make mud pies like this in Mississippi!"An Affair to remember, which is a fluffy vanilla cake with a creamy dreamy caramel frosting, topped with a pinch of brown sugar and finished off with a sweet caramel candy, and finally we have what is in my opinion the best seasonal flavor we've had yet; "The Big Apple," a vanilla cake topped with apple pie frosting and sprinkled with homemade cobbler crust! If you are an apple pie fan you will LOVE this cupcake!

Also keeping us busy is the preparations we've been making for Cupcakes for a Cause. As many of you know, September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. We will be selling cupcakes for the cause and donating part of the proceeds to Cancer Care for Kids, which provides free services to children and families affected by cancer. To help us out with the cause, come into New York Cupcakes September 20-26th and purchase any cupcake with the smiley face sugar topper on it. Twenty five cents from each cupcake purchased will go straight to the cause!

Cupcake Cupcake I love you!

Last night we had a fun event with CRAVE Seattle! The event was at Shilshole Bay Beach Club (try saying that three times fast!), and it was such a beautiful day for it! We brought with us 300 mini cupcakes, with some of our favorite flavors! We brought I <3 PB&J, Candy Store Salted Caramel, Coney Island Coconut, 5th AVE., Cheatin' with Chocolate, Radio City Raspberry, Orange Dreamsicle, Carrie-d Away Cosmopolitan, Long Island Lemon, and Red Velvet! The I <3 PB& J was the ABSOLUTE favorite of the night! I cannot tell you how quickly those flew off the tier! All the ladies loved them! The second favorite was the Candy Store Salted Caramel! The cupcakes were a hit all night, and we made a lot of friends with our cute little cakes! We added our fun edible glitter to all of the cupcakes, and boy-oh-boy what a hit those were!

Such a beautiful place! I actually had my senior prom here! It was kind of a weird flash back!

Other than the CRAVE event, we've had a lot of weddings lately! We had one at Golden Gardens with some beautiful Coconut, Vanilla Bean, and Salted Caramel Cupcakes! They had a 6" Coconut Cutting Cake on top, and we added our beautiful sparkles, which gave it the perfect finishing touch! It was the perfect sunny weekend for a beach wedding!

We also had a wedding at Sanders Mansion, which was a beautiful wedding set up! They went with Mocha, Mixed Berries & Cream, Banana, and Red Velvet. They had a quirky little topper with the Bride 'wearing the pants' and the groom without any!

Also, it must be baby Season! I'm thinking there are tons and tons of babies being born everyday with the amount of Baby Boxes that are flying out our doors! Here is a super cute Baby Box that I made! They were having a 'Sugar, and spice, and everything nice' theme! How cute!

I also did a wedding shower the other day, their colors were white, orange, and brown, so we went with a cute little heart monogram and little white flowers to go along with it!

We've also had a few cutting cakes for weddings. I love making these little cakes, so keep 'em coming! This cute little guy is a Raspberry and Chocolate Summer cake! YUM!

This one here is a vanilla cake with Raspberry buttercream covered in pink and brown fondant! Super cute!

Also, kind of fun, our cupcakes are now being sold at The Weathered Rose in Bothell at the Country Village! Its a super cute Antique shop, and if your on the North End you can get our cupcakes there as well! Its a smaller selection of cake, but stop by on the weekends and you'll be able to get some good flavors! We went to go see the space, and whil we were there we met this cute little guy!

So go check them out, they are super nice people and it is an absolutely adorable shop! I love antique shopping, and they had some adorable things in their shop! Click HERE to check out their website! There are a lot of fun shops at Country Village, and some good places to eat as well!

Also coming up next week I am going on vacation to Los Angeles for my cousins wedding! I am also going to be meeting up with the New York Cupcakes Photographer Amanda Waltman to go skydiving! Well its been a very busy month! Just thought I'd send out a quick blog before we go out tonight! We are going to an event for Crave Seattle, and we are bringing 300 cupcakes along with us! I'll blog all about all of our fun weddings we've had lately after our fun event tonight, so keep posted!

It's a busy busy cupcake month!

Well summer is here, but the sun is still M.I.A! It sure feels like summer in the cupcake shop because we are busy busy little bees!

I'm so excited to announce that every Friday night from 5pm-7pm we are offering Cupcake Cocktail Hour! We have 5 super scrumptious flavors with a kick of liquor in them!

We have the 'A little TOO Carrie-d Away Cosmopolitain' which is our classic Cosmo cupcake you've become familiar with over the past few months, but instead of the classic white cake, we have a white cake with Vodka, and a Vodka/Cosmopolitan buttercream on top with a slice of candy lime! The buttercream is so fluffy, you'll just float away on a Cosmo cloud! (I know I sound ridiculous, but really, try it, you'll feel the same way!)

'Pink Lady' is a Cherry Vodka treat! A cherry vodka cake with a cherry vodka buttercream, topped with pink edible glitter, and a maraschino cherry on top! This takes the sweet cherry to a far away grown up land! This one seemed to be a favorite last Friday night, and there's a good reason for that! Its adorable and DELICIOUS!

'Little Miss Tipsy' is our AWARD WINNING Lemoncello & Raspberry Vodka cupcake! We got 1st place at Cupcake Camp Seattle against some major competitors for the most unique flavors! This cupcake is a Lemoncello and Raspberry Vodka swirled cake, with a dreamy Lemoncello (when I say dreamy, I mean I could just sit in the back room and eat it with a spoon!) buttercream topped with fresh raspberries in a raspberry vodka glaze! OH GOODNESS THIS ONE WILL KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF!!! (I also shouldn't write about delicious cupcakes while I'm hungry!)

'The Rat Pack' is also scrumptious! It is a classic Coca-Cola cake with a light fluffy Jack Daniels buttercream and a candy coke bottle to top it off! It's a delicious alternative to the classic Jack & Coke! This is my favorite drink, and I must say, the cupcake is pretty amazing!

We've also brought back a special order favorite, the 'Kahlua & Cream'! We did this cupcake for the huge Microsoft Order that we did a while back, and it was the first to go! It is our classic chocolate cake with a chocolate and Kahlua buttercream topped with a chocolate coffee bean and chocolate sprinkles!

So seriously, I can't be the only one who is this excited about Cupcake Cocktail Hour! Come in and try them this Friday night!

"Hello, my name is Heather, and I have an addiction.... TO RICE KRISPIE CUPCAKES!"

We've introduced our newest love, and her name is 'Snap Crackle LOVE!' She's a marshmallow infused white cake, with marshmallow fluff and rice krispies baked into the cake, topped with Marshmallow buttercream, and fresh yummy rice krispies treats! I can't resist a rice krispie treat, and this cupcake wins in the battle of Rice Krispie Treat vs. Snap Crackle LOVE!

Its been a busy month and we've also introduced our yummy Candy Shop Cupcakes! Delicious candy flavored cupcakes for any sweet tooth! One of my favorite is the Pixi Stick Cupcake, a sweet tangy candy buttercream topped with crunchy candy peices! Another favorite is the Cherry Bubble Gum Cupcake, topped with delicious Cherry Buttercream and a cherry blow pop on top!

Also recently, three of my favorite people came to visit the cupcake shop! This picture is just too cute not to share! I've known Nathan, Addison, and Jackson since before all of them were born, and boy do they love cupcakes! Or as Jackson calls them 'Cup-yakes!'

A Monster of a Cake!

Well its been a fun week over here at the cupcake shop!!! This past weekend we had a few weddings go out that were super adorable, an 'Icy' Microsoft order, and one of our cupcake girls Lizzie had her 21st Birthday! And every birthday calls for a cake!!! I made her a little monster, because she is a little monster!! It was absolutely fitting of her.

Also this week we did some cupcakes for Microsoft, and I have no idea what it was for, other than 200 mini cupcakes frosted with the word 'ICE' on them. Those Microsoft folk seem to have a lot of parties involving cupcakes and I LOVE it!

After that order we were getting ready for our weekend of Weddings! We had one wedding in downtown Bellevue, and the theme was all Red & White, and I would show you a picture but I forgot my camera (ahh!) and my cell phone did no justice for the cute little cakes! But the second wedding was absolutely darling! They also did all of their cupcakes in the Bella Cupcake Couture Wrappers, and it matched their theme perfectly!

So much to blog, so little time...

Yes yes, I am a horrible blogger. There are just so many cupcakes and so little time! I might not blog all the time, but I think about blogging all the time... does that count for effort?? Haha! Anyhoo, its been a big week over here in cupcake land!

'Save the Girls' Event

First we had the 'Save the Girls' Event, which supported the Susan G. Komen foundation. We got there and set up all the cupcakes, and they were absolutely darling!

We weren't able to make it to the actual event, but if you want to see pictures from the event head on over to Kiro News (click this link and it will take you to the slideshow). There were a lot of fun bra's created by different companies, and some of them are crazy! You'll have to check them out and see what you think ;) Here is a picture of the girl in the NYCC bra that I made! Silly but fun!

The event was held at Pravda in Seattle, and it was a cute little place!

'Girl Power Hour' at the Hard Rock Cafe

After that we had a Girl Power Hour at the Hard Rock Cafe in Seattle. Girl Power Hour is a fun event that we participate with, where women get together to network and mingle!

Hard Rock is new to Seattle, and let me just say... their Long Island Iced Tea will knock you on your butt!!! Their food is also delicious! I would highly recommend their BBQ Pork Sandwich! The theme of the night was 'Sex and the City 2' and 'Find Your Inner Rock Star', kind of an interesting mixture, but the cupcakes were a fun mix of glitter and stars!

I hand made over 700 little fondant stars and hand painted zebra stripes on a lot of them! It was a lot of work, but the results were worth it! So stinkin' cute!

We also did cupcakes for the Seattle 'Sex and the City 2' Premiere. We did 200 of our 'Carried-Away Cosmopolitan' Cupcakes. You can't have 'Sex and the City' without a Cosmo can you??

We got to watch the movie, and it was so good! I love SATC so if your a fan too, you HAVE to go see it! I was laughing the whole move! So good! I thought the girls wardrobes were a little excessive, but the movie definitely had a lot of funny moments!

Not only that, you get to see Liza Minelli doing Beyonce's 'Single Ladies'! She didn't give a 'Cabaret' performance, but Liza will always be close to my heart!

Weekend Wedding

Then this past weekend we had a wedding that was just beautiful!

They had a 3 tiered cake and 300 mini cupcakes. It was a gorgeous set up, and I was just happy the cake survived the drive to the venue! Man-oh-man was I worried! Traveling cakes always make me nervous!!

Other then all that we've had a busy week in the store! I'm also going to be posting pictures of all our monthly flavors up here in a photo album under the 'Photos' page! Yum Yum!

We Survived!

Yesterday was our 1,500 cupcake event with Microsoft, and it went so well! First it was a beautiful sunny day, 70 degrees and perfect! What a great day to have an outdoor event! These Microsoft kiddo's must have worked really hard on releasing their four new products, because this party was crazy!

The bake team did an amazing job and made all the cupcakes so quickly! I was impressed! Then we had the frosting team, and we went as fast as we could while still making them uber cute! We definitely had fun while doing this order! The store was full of cupcakes to the point where we had to block off half of the store front just to store the cupcakes!

We got in early to set up, and thank goodness, because we had a ton of cupcakes! On the way there I stopped through the coffee drive through to get my fix, and the girl had to do a double take when she looked in my car! "WOW! THAT'S A LOT OF CUPCAKES!" If only she knew that was the last of several trips between two SUV's! That wasn't even half of it!

We had a good set up team, it was Lisa, Sarah, and I, and we got as many cupcakes onto their tiers as possible!! It really was a cute set up! I'm just glad we were in the shade so the cupcakes & buttercream didn't melt! Ick! But, the sunny weather went perfectly with their Hawaiian themed party! And our cupcakes sure fit the bill with cuteness and flavors! We went all out with the theme, and it was so darn adorable!

1,500 Cupcakes!? For Real!?

Tomorrow we have our huge bake day for the 1,500 cupcakes for a Microsoft order! That's a lot of cake! I stopped in today to the cupcake shop on my day off (I can't stay away!) to go over a few last things before the big day begins, and I just thought I'd share a few photo's of what's going on!

Apparently this whole blogging thing takes a bit of time to keep up! So I apologize for my laziness and not updating more often! I'll try better I promise!

Its been a very busy week for me in cupcake land, and I've got plenty to share! It's officially wedding season, and MAN-OH-MAN do we have a lot to bake! It really is a lot of fun to see all the different ideas that everyone has for their weddings! My favorite part is getting to make the cutting cakes! I've got a few really fun 3 tier cakes coming up in the next month or so, so keep your eye out for photos! Here is one from last week, it was a pink and lime green polka dot themed cake, and it was a lot of fun to make! I hope the bride liked it as much as I liked making it!

We are also getting ready right now for a HUGE Microsoft order for next week, they are getting 1500 cupcakes, and we are even bringing in extra help so that we can get them the freshest cake possible!!! Just imagine, 43 Industrial size trays of cupcakes! Holy moly that's a lot of cake!!! One of my girls Lizzie and I made the boxes for the order, and lets just say only 1 paper cut, and yes, we got lost in a sea of boxes!!! But we had some amazing girl time while we folded and fastened those pesky boxes!

After that Microsoft Order, we have an event this Sunday called 'Save the Girls' and it is to support Breast Cancer with the Susan G. Komen Foundation. It is going to have a Bra Fashion Show, and I just finished making our New York Cupcakes Bra! It was a lot of hot glue, and a lot of fun! Check out my previous blog about it, and I've also posted the link on the side (on the top right) to the event!

This week, I also got a new tattoo (completely not related to cupcakes, but it's me, so go figure! Read the 'about me' section if you haven't already!!) which if you see me around the store, you'll see me flaunting it and showing it off.. I'm kind of in love. Other then that I've just been trying to enjoy the sunshine when I can, and trying to prep myself for the big week ahead!

Come on in this week and try out our new flavors! The Chocolate Cookie Dough cupcake is simply divine, and we keep selling out, so come in early if you want to try it!!! I'm not a banana person (okay, actually I loathe bananas) but everyone REALLY loves them, and we are also having a hard time keeping those from selling out!!! So drop in and say hi if your in the neighbor hood! Also, mention this blog, and we'll give you a free mini! YUM!

So I hope everyone is having fun out there! And don't forget to wear sunscreen in this amazing weather! Skin Cancer is ugly! Also, a big HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!! to all the lovely mothers out there! I spent today with my mother out on the deck enjoying her amazing view of Puget Sound and enjoying lunch with the whole family! I hope you all had an amazing day!

Oh Lollypop!

So its been a busy week! I haven't written for a bit cause I went to Portland for my birthday! Yipee!! It was a fun and crazy trip, but so amazing!!!

So I started the week off by making tons and tons of Cupcake Cutie Pops! And believe me, they are soooo darn tasty! They are cake & buttercream covered in a delicious hard chocolate shell with yummy sprinkles on top! I've done them in White cake with Vanilla buttercream, and Chocolate cake with Chocolate Buttercream. And I'm sure as we get going I'll break into more flavor combinations (can't wait to do an oreo pop! YUMMY!!!!) So I thought I would share the joys of cutie pops and give you some teasers!

I also made up small bags of mini pops, that are completely munchable and portable! I think the next time I go to the movies I'll grab a bag! They are simply precious! Each bag is a 1/2 pound of pure deliciousness! (I'm getting hungry just talking about them!)

These are also my dad's favorite. (Hi Dad) He can't get enough of them. I think he's given up on cupcakes cause he loves them so much!

Seriously, I wouldn't lie to you. They are AWESOME! Come in and try em!!!

Off to go do more work! Its a rough life!

OHHHH, and also, keep an eye out for some new flavors! We've been taste testing (are you jealous???) till we can't eat another bite!!! One is a banana split cupcake, a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and a Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter!!! These three flavors should be around next week, and they aren't just monthly flavors, so they are here to stay!!!

Model Cupcakes!

Its been a while since I've written, and I've been up to a lot of fun stuff!

First we've introduced our new Cupcake Cutie Pops! Which are simply DELICIOUS! They are either white or chocolate cake, mixed with buttercream, all in a hard chocolate candy shell topped with sprinkles on a stick! CAKE ON A STICK?!? What could be better? (Umm, possibly a cupcake?) But you should come in and try them if you haven't yet. I make em. They are tasty.

Today I also had my dear friend Amanda Waltman of Art of Subtlety Photography in the store taking pictures of all our Monthly flavors along with our new Cosmopolitan and Margarita cupcakes, and we had so much fun! We took the cupcakes over to Common Folk next door (If you haven't been over there yet, you should totally stop in the next time you get a cupcake, super cute finds!) But here are some highlights from Amanda's day with our gorgeous little models!

YEP, I'm a good friend by getting RIGHT in the way of the camera...

She'll even crawl on the floor for a good shot!

Save the GIRLS!

Well this will be interesting!!!

We will be attending an event on May 16th called 'Save the Girls' supporting the Puget Sound region of the Susan G. Komen foundation for Breast Cancer! It is a Bra Fashion show, and we get to design a pink cupcake bra!

How fun!

This is the bra we got, and I'm going to dress it up and make it a New York Cupcakes MASTERPIECE!

A big day at Cupcake Camp!

Yesterday we went to and sponsored Cupcake Camp Seattle (hosted by Carrie Middlemiss of Bella Cupcake Couture) and we had so much fun! We got there early and set up our display and shortly after the masses of people came in for their cupcake extravaganza!

Everyone wanted to take pictures of the cupcakes and it was so much fun!

There were tons of other bakers there, some of the big guys were Trophy Cupcake, Cupcake Royale, and Wink Cupcakes. There were even some bakers that came up from California and Oregon like Rocket Queen Cupcakes! It was a crazy crazy event and TONS of people came in to support the cause for Hope Heart Institute and eat their cupcakes too!

People were lined up out the door because it was so busy and they would come in and LOAD up their plates with cupcakes, and honestly, I don't know how they could eat so many sweets without a big bag of Doritos to balance it all out with some salt!

We entered two cupcakes into the competitions, one for the 'Most Unique Ingredients' which we put our sweet little cupcake the 'Little Miss Tipsy' in for with her Lemoncello and Raspberry Vodka swirled cake, with a Lemoncello and fresh Lemon Zest Buttercream, topped with a Fresh Raspberry Vodka and Raspberry Glaze. It was DELICIOUS!

We also entered into the 'Best Seattle Theme' with Oscar the Orca and his Salmon Buddies!

We went up against some stiff competition and we WON 1st Place for the 'Little Miss Tipsy' and 2nd place for Oscar the Orca! It was pretty Amazing!

So it was a pretty big day for us at New York Cupcakes, we got to see a lot of other bakers, and see what everyone was doing, and get to socialize with all the cupcake lovers in Seattle!

We'll have to come up with some fun new ideas for next year! We hope to see you there in 2011!!

So its my day off after the big day yesterday, and I think I'm going to go take a nap!

Cinn-a-mini!

So I thought I'd take a quick break from making some special cupcakes for the competition tomorrow, and lets just say these are going to be SO fun! I'll give you some hints... The Seattle themed is black and white and blue all over... And the Most Unique ingredients are a little bit tispy!

Ha! Well that should keep you pondering for a bit yeah?

Well starting Monday we will be replacing the strawberry mini's for a while with our Cinnamon Mini aka the Cinn-a-mini! They are adorable.

Look, this guy went head first into the buttercream! Never a bad thing if you ask me!

Carrie'd Away Cosmo!

Okay, let me just say...

YUM!!!

(I thought the bigger font might help portray the deliciousness a little more he he!)

We've added a new cupcake called the Carrie-d Away Cosmopolitan (Get it? Carrie? Sex and the City?) And tomorrow (Friday) is it's first time we're letting this sweet little cupcake out in the big town!

White cake, with a Cosmopolitan Buttercream, some darling little pink sprinkles, and a slice of lime for this amazing cocktail cupcake! No happy hour required for this little mama!

Also, a topic in the kitchen tonight was; how is it we women end up with a gazillion high heels, and we don't have enough places to wear all of them?

Well I'm off to get some rest, Friday and Saturday are going to be busy busy! Can't wait for Cupcake Camp!

Wait, it's hailing? Isn't it supposed to be spring?

So it's completely hailing outside right now, and I'm baffled. What happened to the sunshine?

*sigh*

Well, today in the shop we are baking for a wedding, and the cupcakes look so tasty! I'm also getting ready for Cupcake Camp Seattle for this Saturday! (Check the Link to the right under Cupcake Events!) Its a free event and there will be lots of fun events happening there from cupcake judging competition and cake eating competition and much much more! There will be a lot of cupcake shops representing themselves there, and I'd love to see you all there supporting New York Cupcakes! (P.S. TONS OF FREE CAKE TO EAT!)

I'm going to be competing in two categories, Best Seattle Theme (a fancy design representing my favorite city!) and most unique flavors!

Have any ideas for most unique flavors that you would like to see? Let me know!

So its my very first blog ever, and I wanted to invite you into my world of cupcakes! New York Cupcakes is located in Bellevue, WA tucked away in the corner near Crossroads Mall!
