A Monster of a Cake!

Well its been a fun week over here at the cupcake shop!!! This past weekend we had a few weddings go out that were super adorable, an 'Icy' Microsoft order, and one of our cupcake girls Lizzie had her 21st Birthday! And every birthday calls for a cake!!! I made her a little monster, because she is a little monster!! It was absolutely fitting of her.

Also this week we did some cupcakes for Microsoft, and I have no idea what it was for, other than 200 mini cupcakes frosted with the word 'ICE' on them. Those Microsoft folk seem to have a lot of parties involving cupcakes and I LOVE it!

After that order we were getting ready for our weekend of Weddings! We had one wedding in downtown Bellevue, and the theme was all Red & White, and I would show you a picture but I forgot my camera (ahh!) and my cell phone did no justice for the cute little cakes! But the second wedding was absolutely darling! They also did all of their cupcakes in the Bella Cupcake Couture Wrappers, and it matched their theme perfectly!

So much to blog, so little time...

Yes yes, I am a horrible blogger. There are just so many cupcakes and so little time! I might not blog all the time, but I think about blogging all the time... does that count for effort?? Haha! Anyhoo, its been a big week over here in cupcake land!

'Save the Girls' Event

First we had the 'Save the Girls' Event, which supported the Susan G. Komen foundation. We got there and set up all the cupcakes, and they were absolutely darling!

We weren't able to make it to the actual event, but if you want to see pictures from the event head on over to Kiro News (click this link and it will take you to the slideshow). There were a lot of fun bra's created by different companies, and some of them are crazy! You'll have to check them out and see what you think ;) Here is a picture of the girl in the NYCC bra that I made! Silly but fun!

 The event was held at Pravda in Seattle, and it was a cute little place!

'Girl Power Hour' at the Hard Rock Cafe

After that we had a Girl Power Hour at the Hard Rock Cafe in Seattle. Girl Power Hour is a fun event that we participate with, where women get together to network and mingle!

Hard Rock is new to Seattle, and let me just say... their Long Island Iced Tea will knock you on your butt!!! Their food is also delicious! I would highly recommend their BBQ Pork Sandwich! The theme of the night was 'Sex and the City 2' and 'Find Your Inner Rock Star', kind of an interesting mixture, but the cupcakes were a fun mix of glitter and stars!

I hand made over 700 little fondant stars and hand painted zebra stripes on a lot of them! It was a lot of work, but the results were worth it! So stinkin' cute!

'Sex and the City 2' Premiere

We also did cupcakes for the Seattle 'Sex and the City 2' Premiere. We did 200 of our 'Carried-Away Cosmopolitan' Cupcakes. You can't have 'Sex and the City' without a Cosmo can you??

We got to watch the movie, and it was so good! I love SATC so if your a fan too, you HAVE to go see it! I was laughing the whole move! So good! I thought the girls wardrobes were a little excessive, but the movie definitely had a lot of funny moments!

Not only that, you get to see Liza Minelli doing Beyonce's 'Single Ladies'! She didn't give a 'Cabaret' performance, but Liza will always be close to my heart!

Weekend Wedding

Then this past weekend we had a wedding that was just beautiful!

They had a 3 tiered cake and 300 mini cupcakes. It was a gorgeous set up, and I was just happy the cake survived the drive to the venue! Man-oh-man was I worried! Traveling cakes always make me nervous!!

Other then all that we've had a busy week in the store! I'm also going to be posting pictures of all our monthly flavors up here in a photo album under the 'Photos' page! Yum Yum!

We Survived!

Yesterday was our 1,500 cupcake event with Microsoft, and it went so well! First it was a beautiful sunny day, 70 degrees and perfect! What a great day to have an outdoor event! These Microsoft kiddo's must have worked really hard on releasing their four new products, because this party was crazy!

The bake team did an amazing job and made all the cupcakes so quickly! I was impressed! Then we had the frosting team, and we went as fast as we could while still making them uber cute! We definitely had fun while doing this order! The store was full of cupcakes to the point where we had to block off half of the store front just to store the cupcakes!

Yummmmmmm Lemon!

We got in early to set up, and thank goodness, because we had a ton of cupcakes! On the way there I stopped through the coffee drive through to get my fix, and the girl had to do a double take when she looked in my car! "WOW! THAT'S A LOT OF CUPCAKES!" If only she knew that was the last of several trips between two SUV's! That wasn't even half of it!

We had a good set up team, it was Lisa, Sarah, and I, and we got as many cupcakes onto their tiers as possible!! It really was a cute set up! I'm just glad we were in the shade so the cupcakes & buttercream didn't melt! Ick! But, the sunny weather went perfectly with their Hawaiian themed party! And our cupcakes sure fit the bill with cuteness and flavors! We went all out with the theme, and it was so darn adorable!

Up next we have the 'Save the Girls' Event on Sunday, the event to help support breast cancer! We also have an event on Monday with Girl Power Hour at the Hard Rock in Seattle! 1,500 Cupcakes!? For Real!?

Tomorrow we have our huge bake day for the 1,500 cupcakes for a Microsoft order! That's a lot of cake! I stopped in today to the cupcake shop on my day off (I can't stay away!) to go over a few last things before the big day begins, and I just thought I'd share a few photo's of what's going on!

Here is the hallway of boxes! We're going to close early so we can take over the whole store! Yikes!

Little Catie prepped ALL of the trays to help out the crew tomorrow! Such a sweetheart! THANKS CATIE!!! This is just one rack!

 They are getting Lemon, Orange, Coconut, and Kaluha! (Guess which one is my favorite?? huh huh?? ) They are all going to be a surf theme too! How cute!

So I'll be back in a few days after I recover (both from Microsoft & the extra Kaluha!), with lots of fun photos for everyone!

I'm a Bad Blogger!

Apparently this whole blogging thing takes a bit of time to keep up! So I apologize for my laziness and not updating more often! I'll try better I promise!

Its been a very busy week for me in cupcake land, and I've got plenty to share! It's officially wedding season, and MAN-OH-MAN do we have a lot to bake! It really is a lot of fun to see all the different ideas that everyone has for their weddings! My favorite part is getting to make the cutting cakes! I've got a few really fun 3 tier cakes coming up in the next month or so, so keep your eye out for photos! Here is one from last week, it was a pink and lime green polka dot themed cake, and it was a lot of fun to make! I hope the bride liked it as much as I liked making it!

We are also getting ready right now for a HUGE Microsoft order for next week, they are getting 1500 cupcakes, and we are even bringing in extra help so that we can get them the freshest cake possible!!! Just imagine, 43 Industrial size trays of cupcakes! Holy moly that's a lot of cake!!! One of my girls Lizzie and I made the boxes for the order, and lets just say only 1 paper cut, and yes, we got lost in a sea of boxes!!! But we had some amazing girl time while we folded and fastened those pesky boxes!

After that Microsoft Order, we have an event this Sunday called 'Save the Girls' and it is to support Breast Cancer with the Susan G. Komen Foundation. It is going to have a Bra Fashion Show, and I just finished making our New York Cupcakes Bra! It was a lot of hot glue, and a lot of fun! Check out my previous blog about it, and I've also posted the link on the side (on the top right) to the event!

This week, I also got a new tattoo (completely not related to cupcakes, but it's me, so go figure! Read the 'about me' section if you haven't already!!) which if you see me around the store, you'll see me flaunting it and showing it off.. I'm kind of in love. Other then that I've just been trying to enjoy the sunshine when I can, and trying to prep myself for the big week ahead!

Come on in this week and try out our new flavors! The Chocolate Cookie Dough cupcake is simply divine, and we keep selling out, so come in early if you want to try it!!! I'm not a banana person (okay, actually I loathe bananas) but everyone REALLY loves them, and we are also having a hard time keeping those from selling out!!! So drop in and say hi if your in the neighbor hood! Also, mention this blog, and we'll give you a free mini! YUM!

So I hope everyone is having fun out there! And don't forget to wear sunscreen in this amazing weather! Skin Cancer is ugly! Also, a big HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!! to all the lovely mothers out there! I spent today with my mother out on the deck enjoying her amazing view of Puget Sound and enjoying lunch with the whole family! I hope you all had an amazing day!

Oh Lollypop!

So its been a busy week! I haven't written for a bit cause I went to Portland for my birthday! Yipee!! It was a fun and crazy trip, but so amazing!!!

So I started the week off by making tons and tons of Cupcake Cutie Pops! And believe me, they are soooo darn tasty! They are cake & buttercream covered in a delicious hard chocolate shell with yummy sprinkles on top! I've done them in White cake with Vanilla buttercream, and Chocolate cake with Chocolate Buttercream. And I'm sure as we get going I'll break into more flavor combinations (can't wait to do an oreo pop! YUMMY!!!!) So I thought I would share the joys of cutie pops and give you some teasers!

I also made up small bags of mini pops, that are completely munchable and portable! I think the next time I go to the movies I'll grab a bag! They are simply precious! Each bag is a 1/2 pound of pure deliciousness! (I'm getting hungry just talking about them!)

These are also my dad's favorite. (Hi Dad) He can't get enough of them. I think he's given up on cupcakes cause he loves them so much!

Seriously, I wouldn't lie to you. They are AWESOME! Come in and try em!!!

Off to go do more work! Its a rough life!

OHHHH, and also, keep an eye out for some new flavors! We've been taste testing (are you jealous???) till we can't eat another bite!!! One is a banana split cupcake, a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and a Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter!!! These three flavors should be around next week, and they aren't just monthly flavors, so they are here to stay!!!

Model Cupcakes!

Its been a while since I've written, and I've been up to a lot of fun stuff!

First we've introduced our new Cupcake Cutie Pops! Which are simply DELICIOUS! They are either white or chocolate cake, mixed with buttercream, all in a hard chocolate candy shell topped with sprinkles on a stick! CAKE ON A STICK?!? What could be better? (Umm, possibly a cupcake?) But you should come in and try them if you haven't yet. I make em. They are tasty.

 

Today I also had my dear friend Amanda Waltman of Art of Subtlety Photography  in the store taking pictures of all our Monthly flavors along with our new Cosmopolitan and Margarita cupcakes, and we had so much fun! We took the cupcakes over to Common Folk next door (If you haven't been over there yet, you should totally stop in the next time you get a cupcake, super cute finds!) But here are some highlights from Amanda's day with our gorgeous little models!
